There is nothing prettier than the look of lace. Many years ago, lace was very expensive as it was all created by hand. With the advent of machine-made laces, the cost has become negligible. Because of the low cost and the popularity of lace, you will find lace on everything from outerwear to the most intimate of undergarments and lingerie. There is nothing like knowing you have on lace panties to make a woman feel sexy. Unfortunately, lace can also be scratchy and irritating to wear.
Lace will feel stiffer if it is made from synthetic materials so try to find lace made from natural fibers like cotton or silk. Silk laces are the best but can be quite pricey compared to other laces. If you can afford it, though, you will find nothing else to feel as good and still look so sexy. Especially for intimate garments, silk lace will not chafe or irritate delicate skin.
If silk lace is too expensive, the next best option is a good quality cotton lace. This type of lace is usually quite sturdy and will get softer the more you wash it. Cotton lace can still be costly and is harder to find, unfortunately.
One way to get the look of lace without the chafing is to choose styles that are embellished with lace but where the lace doesn’t actually touch sensitive skin areas. Satin chemises with lace insets are one option that looks and feels sexy without irritating the skin. Lace can be lined with soft or sheer fabrics that are still revealing is another option for sexy lingerie.
If you already have many lace items that are scratchy, there is a way to soften the lace so you can wear them more often. Soak all your lace in a sink or basin full of hot water and lots of fabric softener. Leave the items soaking for 24 hours. Depending on the stiffness of the lace, you may have to do this several times before the items are soft enough to wear comfortably. Once they have softened, be sure to always use fabric softener when you wash them again.
For lace bras, there are patterns available to sew linings into the bras. Silk or satin linings feel nice to your skin and still look good. If the point is to be see through, you can use a sheer rayon mesh. This material is very soft but can be purchased in very sheer fabrics to keep that see through look.
If you’re a true lace lover, future purchases should really be made of silk for the most comfortable feeling items. It’s worth it to save up and spend more for the quality you will get. The investment will pay off many times down the road as silk lace will look like new for many years if taken care of properly. There is nothing sexier than to wear a complete set of silk lace underthings under your clothes. The only one who knows it is you but everyone will notice the smile on your face.

“Fahrenheit 9/11″ auteur Michael Moore recently fueled the epidemic of hatred for America by denouncing his own country and his own people to the foreign press. The UK’s Mirror printed Mr. Moore’s observation of Americans: “They are the dumbest people on the face of the earth…in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks…We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don’t know about anything that’s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.” (1)
That’s right. We are. In fact, we’re stupid enough to believe that we have a great country. Why? Let’s look at the facts…
In 2002, the US Census Bureau estimated that 32.5 million people, from places Moore claims our children can’t find on a map (2), lived in the United States, the largest foreign-born population in America since we started keeping records in 1850. (3) Why are all these people risking drowning, hardships, cultural barriers and possible contamination by our laziness, aggression and arrogance, incompetence, shallowness, and sexually explicit media? Why do people such as California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger come here, entertain, take advantage of opportunity, and enrich our economy through business and philanthropy?
Shock time: Americans are not nearly as despised as Al-Jazeera would have you believe. In fact, the PEW Global Attitudes Project reports that in its 2004 survey, roughly half the respondents in Russia, Turkey and Morocco say people who have moved to the U.S. have a better life (natives of Germany, France and Britain who responded to the survey disagreed, but that’s hardly a surprise, even though Britain has always been a friend).4
None of the usual pat phrases such as “land of opportunity,” “let freedom ring,” and “democracy, democracy, democracy,” seem to explain why Elian Gonzalez’ mother died to bring him to America.
But perhaps we as Americans are stupid enough to believe that those phrases actually mean something. Perhaps we are the dumbest people on the face of the earth. “Dumb” in this case can mean “naïve,” generally meant as an insult, as in “Don’t be so naïve about why al-Qa’eda hates us so much.”
These days, anyone who doesn’t adopt the de rigueur attitude of boredom and yawning in the face of just about everything is called naïve. But Americans have always been known for innocence and openness.
Beverly West quoted actress Alicia Silverstone in Culinarytherapy. Ms. Silverstone, perhaps channeling President Abraham Lincoln’s optimism, once remarked, “Like when I’m in the bathroom looking at my toilet paper I’m like ‘Wow! That’s toilet paper!’ I don’t know if we appreciate how much we have.” (p. 184)
The idea of anything-therapy and the overuse of “like” appear to the global audience to be authentically American, impressed with our own coolness in one breath and cheerfully mangling the English language in the next, not to mention taking the words of a nubile young Hollywood actress (who starred, interestingly, in a contemporary remake of Jane Austen’s satire on manners Emma) as wisdom. Being excited about toilet paper seems, in this high-tech age, a little backward and disingenuous.
Yet all major religions, particularly the Judeo-Christian tradition on which America as we know it was founded, emphasize gratitude as part of spiritual consciousness. Gratitude for the simplest of things, like toilet paper. The great composer Aaron Copeland based his “Appalachian Spring” symphony on the Shaker song of gratitude, “Simple Gifts.”
“Simple” is often a synonym for “dumb.” Yet if simplicity means stupidity, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau were prize idiots. Both of these quintessential American philosophers emphasized simplicity.
In a land of high-speed Internet, 500 channels, strip malls, and coffee companies proliferating like WMD, simplicity seems a foreign concept. Yet in America, we’re “simple” enough to believe that we live in a land of liberty, that (political correctness aside) we can pray, say, or sing whatever we want. We’re simple enough to believe that there still is a personal God, no matter what name we praise; that our kids have the right to attend church, despite the brouhaha over “one nation under God” in the Declaration of Independence; and that (reality shows and a 50 percent divorce rate aside) saying “till death do us part” still means something.
We’re naïve and open enough to believe that, “conniving, thieving, smug” CEOs notwithstanding, we can work hard, start businesses, take care of our families, and create a life that we can be proud of when we leave this world. Even the much-vilified Martha Stewart is admired as a self-made American success story, someone who has used traditional homemaking arts to build a worldwide brand that emphasizes the good life. So much for the idea that Americans are a land of instant macaroni-and-cheese and fast-food eaters. Yes, people sue McDonald’s over getting fat, but the majority of Americans work hard, try to eat well (often together as a family), and pride themselves on playing fair and upholding the law.
Despite celebrity trials, racial prejudices, judicial snafus, serial killers and publicity-hungry lawyers, we still think that “the little guy” still gets a day in court and a fair trial by jury. There is still a sense of personal responsibility for oneself, one’s fellow citizens, and one’s children.
Despite increasing pressures that erode childhood, our kids still have faith in parents to set limits, to be an example, and to lay the foundation for a good life. Certainly many of the young men and women we have seen interviewed in Operation Iraqi Freedom represent the best and the brightest. Our children exhibit the unique dedication to serving others that so many of our leaders, from President Kennedy to Eleanor Roosevelt to Colin Powell, extol. Ms. Stewart advocated teaching disadvantaged women how to start their own businesses. In America, even some of our high-profile so-called criminals want to improve life for others.
We’re simpleminded enough to believe we can make a difference abroad and in our own communities. We have a strong commitment to preserving the earth for future generations. From Thoreau to Rachel Carson to the eco-friendly celebrity spokesperson of the week, Americans show a love for the natural beauty of the earth, a beauty that we celebrate in our own homeland. Many of our citizens support recycling, controls on pollution, wilderness/rainforest conservation, and wildlife preservation. As the riots at the 1999 WTO Summit in Seattle show, Americans can be quite over-zealous when supporting their causes. In short: Americans care.
This should come as no surprise. Our ancestors banded together to secede from British rule. Even in our fight for liberty, we held opposing views, contrarian views amongst ourselves. The Whigs who supported the Revolution and the Tories who supported England clashed with the fervor of their descendants, demonstrators with opposing views on wars from Vietnam to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
This passion for ideas, this devotion, may seem to undermine the unity we boast of. We’re naïve enough to protect the free expression of ideas, even sometimes seemingly at great cost. You don’t see death squads breaking into antiwar protesters’ homes. For all the controversy over the Patriot Act, people who disagree with the US government do not simply disappear without a trace. Case in point: “Fahrenheit 9/11.” It has made over $1 million (the first documentary to do so), yet people coming out of movie theaters don’t get dragged into unmarked cars and interrogated. You can’t be more critical of the government than Mr. Moore, and yet he won an Oscar for “Bowling For Columbine.” Unlike Soviet artists who criticized Communism, Americans are not forced to flee their homeland–the rest of us won’t stand for it.
Lest we forget, it was recently-deceased and much-praised former President Ronald Reagan who uttered the famous phrase, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” His administration was hardly free of controversy, and yet “the Gipper” maintained a cheerful optimism, an openness to the “Evil Empire,” and yes, a naïve belief that America was “a shining city on a hill.” Reagan was actually dumb enough to believe that America would prosper long after he left office. From this standpoint, “the Gipper” personifies Mr. Moore’s idea of American idiocy.
In that case, the countless mourners, including children too young to have heard of President Reagan, who streamed by the casket in the Capitol Rotunda and at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library all suffer from a collective lobotomy. For that matter, so do the world’s most famous figures, including Mr. Gorbachev and Dame Margaret Thatcher, who all responded to President Reagan’s uniquely American character.
At this rate we’ll be a nation of Forrest Gumps, which wouldn’t be all bad if it meant we could have his decency and kindness (not to mention Tom Hanks’ sense of history).
Oh wait…maybe we do. Perhaps that’s what Mr. Moore means when he calls us “the dumbest people on the face of the earth.” By that standard, we’re an entire nation of “Jeopardy” champions.
So the next time people here or abroad say, “You Americans are the world’s dumbest people,” we can say with pride, “Yes, we are. God Bless America!”
Postscript: Michael Moore’s IMDB.com entry includes this quote: “I like America to some extent. Take the Japanese for instance. They are complicated and tend to be reserved in expressing themselves. Sometimes, it is difficult for me to understand them. Americans are simple and clear. They are charming people. You will understand how good an individual American is. What I am not satisfied with America is that the nation cannot control the government and economy. Only a handful of people have the power to control the country.” He also reportedly liked Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ,” since he has stated in DUDE, WHERE’S MY COUNTRY that the left has a “hoity-toity view of religion”–we give the devil his due.

Like our fascination in watching an ant (or the entire anthill for that matter) squirm when we angle the magnifying glass just so at the sun, so too goes our fascination with celebrity. As the latest installment of American Idol shows, the average man just wants to be acknowledged and what better way than becoming a ‘star’. A lot of us dream of it, very few of us attain it and for those lucky (or unlucky depending on your perspective) to be under the magnifying glass of celebrity the rewards seem to be great.
Not having ever been a celebrity myself, although I am somewhat of a ‘big cheese’ in my home town (smugly buffs nails on shirt), I must say that being a celebrity doesn’t seem all bad. I would take the money and the gift bags and the free things and umm did I say money? … Yeah, I would greatly enjoy the perks of ‘celebrityhood’ (or is it celebritydom?) any day but how many of us could live up to that scrutiny?
To have your every move recorded, your relationships scrutinized, your smallest slip-up or shortcoming discussed by millions (for those of us with large families we already get a taste of this … Thanks Mom!). Now I know some of you are thinking the money and perks would balance this out but think about the freedom of anonymity you have now, you can pick your nose in public if you want to, you may get a few stares but ‘the event’ will not be recorded and picked over (pun intended, Ha!) for time immemorial.
But why are we so fascinated? Does our fascination help us to feel better about ourselves? Or is it sparked by envy? For whatever reasons celebrity news and gossip is big business and with the latest news being available at our fingertips everyone and their grandmothers has a blog about one celebrity or other. Many of us readily denounce gossiping in our daily lives yet feed our guilty pleasure by logging on to the latest ‘most hated celebrity’ blogs to see the latest snide comments about this or that person.
Our celebrities have become like that poor fried ant. We feel superior as we sit at our desks and look with pity or scorn at the latest young celebrity to end up in jail or forget their panties or fall flat on their face drunk. But alas fame and celebrity are synonymous and as Newton said for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so too the money and perks cause curiosity and the paparazzi. Now … since it’s been more than an hour since I checked that blog, I’m now off to see what Britney is up to.

BOTTOM LINE: Indiana Jones is back with style with a strong central concept, great character moments and entertaining sequences that we’ve come to know and love, despite not quite hitting all the marks (and in fact missing some completely) that the previous films did.
THE GOOD: The single biggest question mark hanging over this new installment in the Indiana Jones series was whether or not Harrison Ford could still play the role at his age without any mobility assistance; I’m glad to say that he’s most definitely up to it and for much of the running time you can believe that no time has passed at all, save some scenes where they make his age a blatant issue. It’s great to see Ford back in action and in a strong, dignified role after a string of woeful and forgettable films (“Hollywood Homicide” any one?). Story-wise, this film has a lot going for it, least of all being the Crystal Skull itself and it’s tie in with an alien civilisation that helped teach early humans to build technologies more advanced than they were capable of at the time. Whenever the story moves toward the Skull itself, there is a certain spookiness about it, especially its ability to communicate telepathically with people and is best exemplified in the finale when it is returned to its altar and combined with the other alien skeletons in a spectacular finale.
As this object revolves around an alien artifact there’s a visit at the outset from the film to Area 51 where our main villain played by Cate Blanchett wants to steal the body recovered from the Roswell crash in 1947; all nice touches. Continuing the theme from “The Last Crusade” of Indy’s family, we’re introduced to Indy’s son played by Shia LaBeouf who does an amicable job of exhibiting his father’s traits, and Karen Allen returns as Marion and it was nice to see the feisty relationship between Marion and Indy back on screen. The action is probably on par with the previous films, and Spielberg and Co. manage to make these quite entertaining and at times funny (harkening back to the old Saturday afternoon serials which these films are based upon). There are quite a few references to Indy’s age in this film, but they’re worked in organically and after a few scenes you don’t really notice his age as your swept up in the story. What works well in this film is that it still has many of the elements that made the previous films so good, so when you walk out of the cinema, you feel as if you’ve watched another Indiana Jones film and not some tired cash in which is a shadow of its former self.
THE BAD: Despite being a good Indy film, there’s something missing from this installment. It has the usual components that made the old films work, such as character, action and a fascinating archaeological object in the Crystal Skull. And it is an entertaining adventure film with some excellent action. However, one of the strongest elements of the previous films in the series involved the mysticism surrounding the object that Indy was chasing and in this film, despite an excellent finale where we finally get the power of the skull emerging for all to see, we don’t really get a sense of the mystical aspect to the story. Spielberg and Co. are too focused on including too many scenes which function as explanations for why this film should exist (ie backstory: what happened to Indy’s father and Marcus Brody, what happened to Indy in the years between this film and the last, poking fun at and/or acknowledging Indy’s advancing years). As a result, not as much emphasis is placed on the Crystal Skull itself and its power which is a shame because it was perhaps one of the strongest concepts in all of the movies (definitely better than the Grail from “The Last Crusade”).
Cate Blanchett, despite putting in as strong a performance as possible in a film like this, isn’t really as nasty a villain as those from the previous films, and the lack of any other villainous characters (there was usually more than one in the previous films) leave this area of the film a little flat. Another thing that felt a bit off was the lack of pre-story sequence where we see Indy in a mini-adventure that has nothing to do with the rest of the film (as with the previous films). Instead, right from the beginning we’re right in to the main story; this might also have been a symptom of Spielberg and Co. wanting to devote more screen time to explaining the existence of this installment. And Indy’s main music theme doesn’t actually appear in the soundtrack all that often. It’s a shame because these types of things do detract from the film leaving you feeling with a “that was good but it lacked something…” feeling when you walk out of the cinema.

There has been much speculation about Ashlee Simpsons rapid weight loss. The singer has been accused of having an eating disorder. There have been rumours about anorexia and bulimia surrounding the star. But how did she really lose all that weight? She was obviously never fat to begin with, she has just trimmed down her body to an amazing smaller size. Some might argue that she is too thin, but with the medias constant pressure on celebrities to be thin, she fits the category that the media considers beautiful. And whether you like to admit it or not, many of us agree.
So now the big question we all want to know the answer to..
What Does Ashlee Simpson Eat?
Ashlee Simpson eats healthy foods the majority of the time. She has taken influence from her sister Jessica Simpsons personal trainer and sticks to foods such as grilled chicken and greens. Simpson admits that unhealthy days make her feel good too, she calls them her ‘Taco Bell’ days.
This diet is a classic example of high protein, low carb eating. Most bodybuilders and celebrities will have a cheat meal or cheat day. The idea of this is that eating healthy foods 6 days of the week puts the metabolism in a steady pattern, but with the addition of a cheat food (either a whole day or one meal..one meal is recommended) it will shock the metabolism into working harder and faster. Thus, speeding it up and ultimately losing more weight.
How Does Ashlee Simpson Workout?
Ashlee Simpson does attend a gym and work out. She credits dancing to maintaining her slender physique. She has also hired a personal trainer (most stars have them!) Ashlee also recently bought a treadmill for her house, so cardio is no doubt a big factor in her workout routine.
For more information on Ashlee Simpson’s Diet Plan or any other celebrity (Nicole Richie, Gwen Stefani, Pink etc..) check out http://www.Celebrity-Diets.org

The new high-end calibre collection is created using the style of a classic dress watch, with the design of the vintage looks of Roman numerals, subseconds at 6 o’clock, and an elegant dial.
Its more prominent and unique features include a perpetual calendar, which can be used until the year 2100. Using its Eco-Drive system, it is powered by solar energy, with a large twin date display at the midnight position. With a 24-hour dial close to the 9 o’clock position, it allows for the observation of a second time zone. It is also water resistant for up to a depth of 100m and the watch face made with anti-reflective crystal.
The Calibre 3100 collection actually consists of a total of 7 watches, with the BT0000-15A and BT0003-17A being limited editions. There are only 999 pieces of BT0000-15A currently in the world and all are made of stainless steel, while the BT0003-17A, having only 1500 pieces produced, is made of rose gold-tone stainless steel. Both also have anti-reflective sapphire crystals, and comes with unique genuine alligator straps!
The estimated retail prices for both these limited edition watches are $650 and $675, respectively. The remaining pieces of the collection will be priced between $375 and $500.
In my own opinion, I am really impressed with Citizen, with its job of melding clean looks with modern features, creating a unique watch that will be able to last for many years with zero or little maintenance, showing its users accurate timing all the while.

The eyes are considered to be one of the faces’s most prominent features. Having attractive and sexy eyes can surely attract the attention of everyone. Because of this, many women are now resorting to different measures to boost the beauty of the eyes. Wearing eye makeup is the most effective eye appearance boosters. However, a badly applied eye makeup can instantly ruin the entire look. For this you need the advice of an expert on how to do eye makeup properly. One of the most important tips when doing your eye makeup is not to overdo it. The eyeliner, the most basic eye makeup, must be properly done. To do it the right way, you need to dip the brush into the bottle and drain off the remaining ones. To have a better view of your face particularly the eyes, the use of a magnifying mirror is recommended. Half close your eye and being from the middle of your eye up to its outer corner. After this, you can now start from the inner corner going to the middle of the eyes. Spread it evenly in order to avoid rough strokes. Depending on your preference, you can even thicken the line of your eyes’ outer edge.
When it comes to your eyebrow, you can use a pencil. A perfect eyebrow must begin where the pencil makes the alignment with your lips’ outer edge and your eye’s inner corner. It is also important to get rid of all the stray hair located underneath the brow and not from its upper portion. Plucking the stray hair above the eyebrow would only ruin the shape of your brows.
Of course, women have varying needs as they possess different shapes of face. For those who have round faces, an eyebrow must be long and slightly arched. For square face, you need to have a gently arched curve; and rectangular face, same as the square shape. Just like the eyebrows, eyes also have different needs. The deep-set eyes can use a lighter shade of foundation above the socket area of the upper eyelids and blend it well. Meanwhile tilting the eyeliner in the upward and outward direction before it reaches the upper lids’ outer corner can do a boost appearance for drooping eyes. For round eyes, you can do a trick to make them appear longer by extending the eye shadow and liner beyond the eyes’ outer corner. For a softer look, you need to blend them properly. And lastly, chinky and small eyes can appear larger through the use of the two shades of the shadow. First, use a light shade on the upper eyelid and a darker one on the crease.
