Unclaimed Cash Continues To Flood The Government

January 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Story | No Comments »

It may sound preposterous to think there are billions of dollars of unclaimed cash and some could even be yours. All throughout the United States people are finding loads of money they never knew existed. Although it may seem a little outrageous, all of the money is coming from the government and you have the opportunity to get in on some of this free unclaimed money search.

The missing money from the government comes in the form of unclaimed money and property. The latest estimates claim there is over $40 billion dollars nationwide of unclaimed money. You would think a figure like this would get recognized, but there are so many people that completely lose track of their money.

The biggest problem is when people move, get another job, get married, or pass away. What ends up happening is people simply lose track of their records. They lose track of all financial assets including bank statements, tax returns, checks, stocks, and bonds. After losing track of these assets they get turned over to the state. If these assets never get claimed, they are then turned over to the government.

It varies, but typically the period the bank or business is allowed to hold on to these assets before handing them over to the state is three to five years. As far as how long you have to claim them, there generally is no time limit as long as the identity matches with the asset.

As you can imagine, many times none of this missing money gets claimed by the rightful owners. Even shows like Dateline and Oprah have dedicated episodes strictly to unclaimed money. And even then people just seem to overlook the opportunity that some may be theirs.

It does not hurt to call up and see if any of it is yours. An even easier way to find out if you have missing money is to conduct a free search on the internet. The process of searching for unclaimed property and unclaimed money databases is as simple as you typing your name in a search box. If your name is on the list there typically is an online claim form for you to fill out to prove your identity.

With millions of dollars being added to the unclaimed cash list every year, there is a good chance that some of this money may be yours. All it takes is a few minutes for you to perform a free unclaimed money search. And for all you know you could have thousands of dollars missing. Take the time to research and find out if you have any missing money.

Games To Keep All Entertained At Your New Year Party

January 6th, 2008 -- Posted in Story | No Comments »

Here are a few fabulous New Year Party game ideas to turn your Christmas party into a memorable affair.

Guess Whose Resolution

Give a piece of white paper to each of your guest and ask them to write 5 New Year resolutions. Collect all the paper slips and place them in a small basket. Now call the guests one by one and make them take out a piece of paper and read aloud the resolutions written on them. Next ask all the other guests to make a guess as to who could have written the resolution. When all the resolutions are read out, calculate who made the maximum number of right guesses and give that person a nice and elegant Christmas present.

Guess Who

You will need old magazines and safety pins or selotape for this game. Before the party, cut out pictures of celebrities known to the group of people that will be at the party. Each guest gets an identity pinned to his back so that everyone but him can see it. By asking yes or no questions of his fellow spies, each child must figure out who he is.

You can also do this using celebrity couples and the party members have to find their match. You could use Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Prince Charles and Camilia etc

Shadows

For this game you will need props, a large roll of paper, posable lamp and a marker
Before the party, gather some props, these could be some hats, a trench coat and a pipe, (anything that would be noticeable in a shadow), a large roll of paper to mount on the wall (found in art supply stores), a posable lamp and a marker.

One at a time, usher guests into a separate room, where they can select items for striking a pose.
Stand each person in profile in front of a section of paper and turn on the light. Trace each person’s outline, then write her name on the back. When all suspects have been traced, gather everyone together in one room and see if they can guess which shadow belongs to who.

Bubble Wrap Stomp

This is a very cheap way to entertain kids for the countdown to the New Year.

Pick up several yards of large Bubble Wrap (or recycle Bubble Wrap that comes with holiday gifts). Just before midnight, unroll it on a hard surface, such as a wooden floor or driveway, and when the countdown concludes, begin “the Bubble Wrap Stomp.” Be sure to buy large bubbles, because the small ones just don’t have the same result.
